Tumbrels were large, two-wheeled carts used in European cities for carting goods and waste; drawn by a single Horse so it could maneuver in narrow streets and alleyways and easily dumped by tipping backward on a single axle.

During the plague, corpses were stacked in back, could hold 30 - 50 corpses. It appears, despite drawings, that cloth covers were not used.
